Violet Shimmer G-Spot Vibrator Review

Brand new at Good Vibrations, the Violet Shimmer G-Spot Vibrator is a hunka, hunka shimmery metallic purple plastic love!

The Violet Shimmer G-Spot Vibrator is part of the Wicked Toys line made by California Exotic Novelties, and endorsed by adult film star Jessica Drake. It is made of ABS, which is a hard plastic that is phthalate-free, non-porous, and body safe. ABS can be safely used with any type of lubricant and is easy to clean. Of course, the type of lubricant you use with your Violet Shimmer G-Spot Vibrator will impact your cleaning process. ABS can be cleaned with antibacterial soap and warm water or your favorite toy cleaner. Keep in mind, water-based lubricant is easier to clean up than silicone or oil-based lubes. Then again, I’m biased.

There is nothing discreet about the Violet Shimmer G-Spot Vibrator’s packaging. It has that cheesy “I’m a sex toy!” look to it. No way anyone is going to mistake this for something else. However, the clamshellness of the plastic packaging does make for good storage. You can easily store this vibrator on its own in a drawer, or in a bag. It can sleep snugly with other materials, such as silicone, and it really doesn’t collect lint. The plastic clamshell does make it an odd shape in my toy chest. Nonetheless, I prefer to store the Violet Shimmer Vibrator in its plastic shell to keep it clean of dust.

The Violet Shimmer G-Spot Vibrator comes with several brief instructions. The first, included in a little pocket in the main plastic clamshell, are the battery insertion instructions. These are clearly for several California Exotic products as there are seven different diagrams showing how to insert different batteries. Curled up inside the vibrator’s battery compartment is an additional paper that shows how the two necessary C batteries need to be inserted. This paper also informs me to keep it inside the vibrator as it’s meant to maximize the vibrational level when in use. I do notice a slight difference between having this paper inside the battery compartment vs. removing it. The third bit of instructions come in the form of a sticker on the base of the vibrator telling me that PVC, TPR, and the pretty metallic purple finish don’t mix. All in all, I’m quite impressed with the amount of instructions provided with the Violet Shimmer Vibrator.

One very helpful piece of the packaging is that it has taught me how to say “vibrator” in five languages besides English. Granted, it’s almost the same word in all six languages, but I still find it amusing. It also cracks me up that the Violet Shimmer G-Spot Vibrator was “designed specifically for Jessica Drake”. Seriously? Was she consulted every step of the way? Did she choose metallic purple? I’m just sayin’… ;)

The Violet Shimmer G-Spot Vibrator is 7″ long, with 6 ½” insertable, and 1 ¼”” in diameter. It has a curve on the end which makes it ideal for g-spotting. The full size of this vibrator and it’s delightfully smooth body make it great for insertion and thrusting. However, the hardness and inflexibility of the plastic require some care. It would be quite easy for me to bruise my cervix if I’m not mindful of what I’m doing. The Violet Shimmer’s g-spotting nub is also perfect for clit stimulation. In fact, the first time I used this vibrator I was way too impatient to have a g-spot orgasm. After all the delicious thrusting, I finished myself off using the curvy nub on on my clit. Double yummmm!

The Violet Shimmer G-Spot Vibrator is waterproof so it’s safe for the bath and shower. The screw-on base has a solid o-ring on the inside which ensures, as long as you screw the base on tightly, that moisture is kept out. This vibrator performs admirably in the shower and I am happy to drench it in water when washing. The screw-on base itself is very easy to use. To turn on the vibrator, you simply twist the bottom of the base clockwise. To turn off, turn counter-clockwise. The advantage to this screw-on base is the ability to adjust the speed incrementally rather than in jumps. However, I find this makes it difficult to adjust the power one-handed.

The not very tasteful packaging informs us that the Violet Shimmer G-Spot Vibrator is “wickedly powerful”. I must agree. Running on two C batteries, this vibrator is a purple powerhouse that makes my hand go numb after a while. The two C batteries are NOT included, so remember to hit the store before your package arrives. Otherwise, you’ll cry big tears when you realize you can’t use your brand new sex toy right away! The downside of the C batteries along with the simple design of the Violet Shimmer is the high-pitched, buzzy vibrations.

Violet Shimmer G-Spot Vibrator Pros:
• Size
• Firm, body-safe ABS
• Strong motor

Violet Shimmer G-Spot Vibrator Cons:
• Numb hand syndrome
• Buzzy vibrations
• Loud

While the Violet Shimmer does have buzzy vibrations that numb my hand, and isn’t truly a one-handed vibrator, it’s a good solid vibe. The level of power makes for enjoyable play time. The firm, smooth body give it strong thrusting ability, the curved nub is designed especially for g-spotting, and doubles for clit stimulation as well. This is a good all around vibrator, and at this price, you’d be hard pressed to find a better deal.
