A while back, Rocks Off came out with this adorable Massager called the Luv. I do love an unusually-shaped toy, especially one that is dual-purpose, so I was thrilled at the opportunity to test drive the Luv Massager.

The Luv Massager is very cute and quite a bit smaller than I expected. It is only 6.5″ long and 2.5″ in diameter. It is made of white ABS plastic and pink silicone. These materials are very easy to care for and clean. You can use a sex toy cleaner or warm water and antibacterial soap on both ABS and silicone. You can also use a 10% bleach solution on the pink silicone head to sterilize it if you so desire. As the Luv Massager is totally waterproof, you can feel free to take it in the shower or bath for some wet massage time. The cover for the battery compartment snaps on and off rather than screwing and it has a pink silicone ring to keep the water out. The four AAA batteries sit inside a little cartridge that slides in and out of the battery compartment making it easy to store your batteries outside of the Luv Massager when it’s not in use.

The Luv Massager can be used as a body massager or as an intimate massager and can you can use it on parts of the body such as the nipples, clit, or testicles. The silicone has some drag, though not a lot. Still, you may want to use some lube when using it on your clit. Be sure to use water-based lubricant as silicone-based lubes can react negatively with the silicone of the head and cause tackiness. You also may want to use some form of water-based massage lotion when using the Luv as a body massager to keep the head from dragging all over your skin. A massage lotion will make it glide more smoothly and softly and be more comfortable as you massage yourself or your partner.

Running on four AAA batteries gives the Luv Massager’s five vibration levels quite a bit of power. It’s surprising for so small a toy. It is also on the loud side for such a little massager. I can almost hear it through the closed door to my bedroom if the apartment is silent, so if you have thin walls or roommates you might need to play some quiet music to make sure no one can hear you. Of course, as the Luv is also a body massager you may not mind anyone hearing that it’s on. I find the Luv’s vibrations to be mid-range. They are deeper and rumblier on the lower levels and get slightly higher-pitched as the strength increases. That said, they are not buzzy, and as I mentioned before, they are powerful.

The control panel of the Luv Massager is clear cut and straight-forward. It consists of two buttons, the ON/OFF button and the 5X button. The control pad lights up pink when the Luv Massager is turned on. The ON/OFF button is a dedicated button that turns the massager on and off. The 5X button scrolls through the five levels. There are three levels of steady vibration and two pattern modes. They are as follows:
1. Low steady vibration
2. Medium steady vibration
3. High steady vibration
4. Fast pulsing ramp up
5. Slow pulsing ramp up

I really like the shape of the Luv Massager. The handle is quite ergonomic and it sits comfortably in my hand during use. This makes it simple to hold onto whether I’m using it on my partner or myself. The buttons are easy to reach and press with my thumb so it is effortless to use. The only real downside of the Luv’s handle is that the vibrations can be readily felt through it, so after a while my hand starts to feel a bit buzzy. The heart-shaped head provides versatility. The point of the heart allows me precise stimulation where I want it, while the broadness of the head provides a more generous stimulation for larger surfaces. So, the heart point is great for clit and nipple stimulation, as well as really pinpointing sore muscles.

The Luv Massager does a decent job at massaging my surface muscles but it really doesn’t get deep. It feels great on my neck and the base of my skull, where I carry a lot of tension, and really helps to ease the tightness of the muscles there for me. It also works decently on my clit. This is where the pointy tip really shines for me. It allows me to get pinpoint stimulation on my clit, which I really like, and it’s not easy to find a pointy vibrator. My man is sort of iffy on it. He cannot decide if he likes the vibrations on his back though he is partial to the pointy tip digging into his sore muscles. He is not a big fan of vibrations near his penis so it fails for him there.

Though the packaging is very simple, I quite like it. The Luv Masager comes in a clear lightweight plastic sleeve which is not really good for storage. However, within the flimsy plastic sleeve the Luv sits on plastic rests inside a hard plastic box that is great for storage. The downside of this box is that it doesn’t latch at all so you need to keep it in the sleeve otherwise it will just fall open if it gets tipped over. The sleeve has some very basic information in four languages and an image of the buttons and one that shows how the batteries go in. There is no additional information included with the Luv Massager which might leave some users confused, especially if they are not experienced with massagers and sex toys. The packaging is see-through, but tasteful, and I feel like I can leave it sitting around without being worried someone will see it and think the Luv Massager is a sex toy.

I know it has already passed, but with its pink heart-shaped head and white body the Luv Massager would make a great gift for Valentine’s Day. Of course, it is sweet enough to give as a gift for other occasions as well. I’m not totally blown away by the Luv. I like it but it doesn’t blow my mind. It does have a lot going for it though. The Luv Massager would be a good first toy. It’s cute, small, and non-threatening, as well as straight-forward, powerful, and easy to use. It’s also very versatile as it can be used as a body massager or a stimulator for your nipples and clit. It can also be used on the perineum or testicles.

The small size of the Luv Massager is very convenient as it fits easily in a bedside drawer and would not take up much room in your luggage if you were to travel with it. Though the Luv definitely does not take the place of something large that runs on AC power like the Hitachi Magic Wand, the power wrapped up in this small massager makes it a good option for those without a ton of room or easy to reach wall plugs. So I’ve been thinking it would be a good idea to look back over the last year and see what my favorite sex toys and sensual products were from 2011. Quite frankly, I am not always great at narrowing down lists of favorites because I tend to waffle back and forth so this has proven to be a challenge for me. I decided to go back and look at all the products that received a 5 Bean Rating from me and share my list with you. However, it turns out I reviewed a number of highly rated items in 2011 so I did have to narrow down the list somewhat to highlight my true favorites.

#5 Chocolate Body Cream

Number five is Sweet Beauty’s Chocolate Body Cream from Babeland. This body cream is thick and creamy and has the most delicious chocolatey scent. It makes my skin feel soft and silky and smell heavenly. In fact, the danger of the Chocolate Body Cream is that it makes me crave chocolate. While body cream may not be the first thing you think of when discussing sensual products, I think anything that tantalizes multiple senses is a sensual treat.

#4 TRUST Oil

In the number four spot is TRUST Natural Oil. TRUST is the most amazing massage oil I have run across in a long time. It is an organic, vegan, cruelty-free, food-grade oil that happens to be kosher as well. TRUST is made with Grape Seed, Avocado, and Apricot Kernel Oils and is light and silky on my skin. It is very moisturizing and adds both a high class feel and increased intimacy to any massage.

#3 Intense Clit Stimulating Gel

Number three is Intimate Organics Intense Clit Stimulating Gel. This Clit Gel makes my clit all cool and tingly in the most wonderful way. Another vegan, cruelty-free product, Intense Clit Stimulating Gel is glycerine and paraben-free and does not contain DEA or menthol. However, it does contain organic extracts which I think is a nice bonus. Most importantly, I love how it makes my clit feel and how it speeds up my orgasms.

#2 Beginner Bondage Kit

The number two slot goes to the Beginner Bondage Kit from MyPleasure. The Beginner Bondage Kit comes with wrist and ankle cuffs, tethers, a blindfold, and a small flogger. Though I do not consider myself a beginner when it comes to bondage, I love the cuffs in this kit. My number one sensual product of 2011 is the Liberator Wedge. The Liberator Wedge is an amazing piece of sex furniture that belongs in everyone’s collection. #5 Hitachi Magic Wand

In the number five spot is the Hitachi Magic Wand. I recently reviewed the Hitachi and fell in love with its deep vibrations and ability to multitask as a muscle massager, which is really its intended use. It doesn’t look like a sex toy which is a bonus if I want to leave it laying around.

#4 Octopussy

Number four on my list of sex toys is the Octopussy also from Babeland. This dildo is shaped like tentacle and has the most amazing texture I have ever run across. It is a lovely light pink color and is made of glass. The Octopussy can be used vaginally or anally and the curved handle makes it very easy to use. The glass is great for sensation play but what truly stands out is the texture. I don’t have anything else quite like it and it’s just great.

# 3 G-Spot Lollipop J Pop

My number three toy of 2011 is the G-Spot Lollipop J Pop. I discovered this little beauty when I attended ANE in July. Its rather unusual shape allows for great g-spot stimulation and it comes in all sorts of fun colors. The G-Spot Lollipop also comes in multiple styles and sizes, and though I haven’t tried any other style, I do love my G-Spot Lollipop J Pop.

#2 Crystal Kiss & njoy Pure Plug

 

Tied for the number two slot are two phenomenal butt plugs, the Crystal Delights Crystal Kiss and the nJoy Pure Plug. They are both so awesome, I can’t choose which one I like more. The Crystal Kiss is the most beautiful toy I own. It is just exquisite with its swirl of red and gorgeous swarovski crystal. The njoy Pure Plug is delightful in its heavy steel and can be worn for significant periods of time comfortably.

#1 Eroscillator

My number one top sex toy of 2011 is the famous Eroscillator. The Eroscillator is so unlike any of my other sex toys because it oscillates rather vibrates. It is usually a good thing when I multitask, so why not ask my sensual products to do the same? The Earthly Body Candle is a 3-in-1 product. It’s a scented candle, great just burning by itself. It’s a massage oil, fun to use with a partner, and it’s a skin moisturizer that anyone can use on their own.

Just having it out next to the bed with the tin closed allows me to enjoy the delicious scent of the Smashing Pumpkin. Smashing Pumpkin smells warm, sweet, spicy, and inviting. It is perfect for this chilly weather and this time of the year. It is reminiscent enough of pumpkin pie and other sweets that it tempts my appetite if I am at all hungry…or even if I’m not! Underneath, there is a hint of something flowery, which is not my favorite part of the scent but will probably be appreciated by many people.

The Earthly Body Smashing Pumpkin 3-in-1 Suntouched Candle comes in a 6.8 ounce tin with a lid and a small plastic spoon. The candle burns slowly and evenly and creates a nice little puddle of oil. There are directions and the ingredients on the bottom of the tin.

Glycine Soja (Soybean Oil), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Oil), Cannabis Sativa (Hemp Seed Oil), Prunus Ameniaca (Apricot Oil), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Oil), Persea Gratissima (Avocado Oil), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Phthalate-free Fragrance with Essential Oils

As you can see, this candle is basically made up of a whole bunch of natural oils and is petroleum-free. I have sensitive skin and have not had any reaction to the Earthly Body Smashing Pumpkin 3-in-1 Suntouched Candle, so I am comfortable recommending it to others. I very much like that it is cruelty-free and made in the U.S.

These oils all burn at a low temperature so there is no need to worry about burning yourself with the hot oil. I love the warmth of the wax as it goes on hot and liquidy. It feels toasty and soothing, like good comfort food. The oil goes on feeling thick and waxy but rubs in feeling creamy and soft. At first I thought it would be too heavy but it is not. It leaves my skin smooth and moisturized with no residue on my hands or stickiness on my skin. The scent lasts for hours afterward.

I like that the Earthly Body Smashing Pumpkin 3-in-1 Suntouched Candle is billed as a massage oil and a moisturizer. This way, when I just use it on my own I don’t feel like I’m wasting it. A massage candle is a lovely experience with a partner, but using one as a self-moisturizer can be just as delightful. Enjoying the soft, candle-lit atmosphere and treating yourself to the warm, liquid glow of the moisturizing oil is a wonderful thing to do for yourself, especially after a particularly difficult day or when you’re not feeling so well.

I have been having the toughest time getting rid of this nasty upper respiratory infection that doesn’t want to quit. One of the ways I have treated myself has been with the Earthly Body Smashing Pumpkin 3-in-1 Suntouched Candle. Burning it and rubbing the soothing oil into my chilled, aching skin has warmed me up and helped me feel better, even if it is just a cosmetic change. What matters is that I feel better, right?

I am not sure how much time you will actually get out of this candle as it doesn’t say. I have burned mine for quite a bit and it really seems to be lasting, but much of that will depend upon whether you simply burn the candle for fragrance or also use up the wax as a massage oil or moisturizer.

My biggest issue with this candle is that the scent changes quite significantly when the wax heats up and melts. It takes on more of a flowery scent and I really prefer the scent of the cold candle. It is also difficult to pour straight out of the tin and for this reason, I really appreciate the included plastic spoon. The spoon is great for small amounts when I am applying the oil to my arms and legs, for example, but when I want large amounts it would be nice to be able to pour the wax, such as over someone’s back.

My Earthly Body Smashing Pumpkin 3-in-1 Suntouched Candle came in a plastic pouch and plastic bag for protection. As this candle is made of oils that melt at low temperatures, it is possible for it to become soft during shipping, especially during warmer months, so I appreciated the extra care FunWares took in packing my candle. I am always a fan of a good massage candle and yummy scents. Finding a strong scented candle that works well as a massage oil and moisturizer is a double-treat. Or should I say triple treat? Regardless, the Earthly Body Smashing Pumpkin 3-in-1 Suntouched Candle has a strong scent and feels soothing on the body. It warms up nicely and rubs into skin leaving it soft and supple with no residue or stickiness. Overall, it’ll come down to the scent for most people as the candle itself is a delight. I like the scent of the burning candle less than the scent of the candle cold, but I don’t find the burning scent objectionable. If the scent remained the same I would give this candle a higher rating. As it is, I am still quite fond of it.

I haven’t tried that many Kama Sutra products, but I have heard really good things about them. I decided to try the Kama Sutra Sweet Heart Box in Strawberry from FunWares.

The Kama Sutra Sweet Heart Box comes in a cute red heart shaped cardboard box. It showcases the included products on a bed of chopped brown paper.

Strawberry Crème Body Soufflé
The Strawberry Crème Body Soufflé comes in a 1.8 ounce plastic jar and is billed as a kissable massage cream. To me, kissable means lickable so I’ve licked it many a time. The Body Soufflé has the light scent and flavor of strawberry candy. I wouldn’t eat spoonfuls of it but it’s quite good for an edible body product. It’s smooth and creamy against my skin and feels good when rubbed in. It leaves my skin feeling soft and silky with no greasy residue and I feel no need to shower or wash myself off after using the Strawberry Crème Body Soufflé. I can simply put my clothes on or roll over and go to sleep. In fact, it can be used as a lovely scented body cream, and if you get hungry you can always just start gnawing on your own arm.

Strawberry Crème Body Soufflé contains the following ingredients:
Water, Ethylexyl Palmitate, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Cetearyl Alcohol, Flavor, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparraqfin, Laureth-7, PEG-100 Stearate, Carbomer, Sodium Saccharin, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Sorbate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Red 40, Red 33, Benzyl Alcohol.

Granted, this is not an organic product. There are plenty of chemicals in this body cream. However, my sensitive skin enjoys the nourishment it provides and I appreciate the scent and flavor. Please bear in mind this Body Soufflé contains glycerin and thus should not be used internally as glycerin is a sugar and has been linked to increased incidences of yeast infections in women.

White Chocolate Body Paint
White Chocolate Body Paint comes in a 2 ounce glass jar with a short plastic and bristle brush for painting. I am not a fan of the brush at all. It’s cute but the bristles are very stiff. Perhaps this is necessary because the White Chocolate Body paint is quite creamy. It’s possible a softer brush wouldn’t work at all, not that this brush works well. It does grab the creamy body paint but it just sort of pushes it around on the skin. The brush just doesn’t do a great job of painting with the White Chocolate. The White Chocolate Body Paint feels somewhat sticky on my skin. It’s not pleasant like the Strawberry Cream Body Soufflé. I just don’t enjoy playing with it very much.

The flavor of the White Chocolate Body Paint is odd. If I were doing a blind taste test, I might guess it was supposed to be cream soda. I just don’t get much of a white chocolate flavor from it, though it is very sweet. There is also a strange aftertaste that is a bit like alcohol. I don’t drink and am very sensitive to alcohol. I realize there is alcohol in this product but I’m probably just tasting the vanillin or picking up on some weird chemical flavor. I like my sweets, but this is just way too sweet and chemical-y for me. It’s not the worst thing I’ve ever tasted, but it’s certainly not the best.

White Chocolate Body Paint contains the following ingredients:
Corn Syrup, Palm Kernal Oil, Hydrogenated Palm Oil, Non-fat Dried Milk, Whole Milk, Glycerol-Lacto Esters of Fatty Acids, Soya Lecithin, Salt, Vanillin, Ethyl Alcohol, Water, Food Starch, Titanium Diozide, Flavor, Sodium Benzoate.

Strawberry Honey Dust
The 2 ounces of Strawberry Honey Dust comes in a small plastic bag inside a red satin drawstring pouch with a mini feather duster applicator. You are meant to use the feather applicator to lightly dust this kissable dust on your lover’s body. Then you can kiss or lick it away. The Strawberry Honey Dust is a lovely shade of pink, achieved through food coloring, of course.

Unlike original Honey Dust which smells very much Honeysuckle flowers, the Strawberry Honey Dust doesn’t have much of a scent. If anything, it smells lightly of powder with a barely discernible sweetness to it. Unfortunately, there is also not much flavor to the Strawberry Honey Dust. Being a big fan of the original Honey Dust, I was excited to try its strawberry cousin but I was a bit disappointed. The flavor is so faint it is barely there. It is almost an aftertaste of strawberry ice cream, which is quite nice. However, if I didn’t know it was supposed to be strawberry, I’m not sure I’d be able to determine the taste.

Corn Starch, Modified Glucose, Zea Mays Starch, Honey, Flavor, Silica, Sodium Saccharine, Red 33, Red 40.

Though I still want to try more Kama Sutra products, this one has been disappointing. I really like the Strawberry Crème Body Soufflé but the both the White Chocolate Body Paint and Strawberry Honey Dust are a bust for me. On its own, I’d give the Strawberry Crème Body Soufflé a solid four beans but I just cannot rate the entire set this high due to White Chocolate Body Paint and Strawberry Honey Dust.

I know I’m usually all about the sex toys and how things can be used for sex but not everything has to be about sex, you know! The InfraRed Electric Massager is a California Exotic Novelties product that is manufactured in China. It is made of hard and soft plastics and comes is a dark maroonish red. This Massager has dual speeds and infrared heat which is kinda nifty. It is a wand massager that plugs into the wall so you don’t have to worry about batteries but you do have to deal with a cord. The easy to use controls are on the handle and the head has two parts. One side has the nub where you attach the interchangeable attachments and the other side is the magical infrared heat dome.

The controls are very easy to use. It has three settings, Off, Lo, High.
Off = self-explanatory
Lo = low vibration with high infrared heat
High = high vibration with low infrared heat

The head is slightly flexible with a fair amount of pressure, which is easy to apply when pressing the wand against the body. The wand itself is about 12 1/2″ long and the head measures approximately 9 3/4″ around without any attachments. The cord is a bit over 6′ long which provides for a fair amount of moving around. You may still need an extension cord if your electrical socket isn’t right near your massage location or you want to give your partner a full body massage.

The InfraRed Electric Massager has five interchangeable attachments that slip on and off very easily but attach sturdily and don’t come off during massage time. They are as follows:

1. Focus Cone: One large soft plastic protrusion designed for focusing vibrations in one spot. Meant for deeper, more focused massage.

2. Wide Nubbed: A large saucer with soft, flexible nub-like protrusions. Good for stimulating the scalp and back of the neck.

3. Buffer: A hard plastic disc with a softer, almost spongy material . It looks like something I should be using on leather shoes, but is meant to be used to apply lotion to the face for gentle facial massage.

4. Large Bump: A hard plastic disc with seven large, hard bumps. Not at all flexible or giving. For massaging large muscle groups.

5. Dualer: Similar to the Focus Cone with two smaller, slightly flexible protrusions. Good for shoulders, neck, along spine and shiatsu-type massage.

The packaging is typical California Exotics, a see through molded plastic sleeve. This product looks and acts like a body massager (because it is), so even in its packaging it can be left out and about for others to see. It certainly does not look like a vibrator, and quite frankly isn’t one. I am accustomed to California Exotics lame-o packaging but the InfraRed Electric Massager could really use a storage bag considering the wand and its five interchangeable attachments. Right now, I’m sort of at a loss for how to store it and I am keeping my eye out for a makeup bag or some such that it will fit it.

The InfraRed Electric Massager comes with a very brief instruction manual that does provide some helpful hints. It recommends a massage time of 10-15 minutes in one sitting. It also says if you want to use cream or oil with your massage to cover the area with a cloth or paper towel before applying the Massager. However, I have no problem using massage products with the attachments. The plastic is compatible with lotions and oils and they clean up very easily.

Speaking of cleaning, you can simply wipe down the wand body with a damp cloth or your favorite toy cleaning spray or wipes. The attachments can also be wiped down or washed with water in the sink.

The vibrations of the InfraRed Electric Massager are deep. They reverberate throughout my body even on the lower setting. The vibrations are also powerful, which is great for massage, but I find them almost overpowering on my clit. I don’t have a super sensitive clit and I do like stronger vibrations but something about these don’t sit quite right. With this Massager my orgasms are just not all that exciting. My body is left feeling vaguely unsatisfied. The only attachment that works well for my clit is the Focus Cone. The others are just too big and clunky for my pubic region. I can and do get off with this wand, but it is so strong that it happens so quickly it’s almost and if I’ve cum and gone before I’ve realized it. The wand is also on the heavy side for a vibrator.

The low vibrations can barely be heard while under the covers and even the high vibration level cannot be heard through a closed door, which makes the InfraRed Electric Massager more discreet than I was expecting.

The heat feels lovely against my body and is a nice addition to a massage. It particularly helps for sore muscles. The smoothness of the plastic makes it it easy to slide the heated bulb along the skin.

I really wish I could control the heat and vibrations separately because it takes about 12-15 minutes to heat up to its maximum. This is a bit of drag because I’ve got to have the vibration on the whole time, even if I just want to use the heated side. It is a bit weird that it takes so long to heat up when the directions recommend using it for only 10-15 minutes. However, I’ve used for longer periods of time without any issues.

I really like the InfraRed Electric Massager as a massager rather than a sex toy. As a sex toy it just doesn’t work for me, but it’s got some great qualities as a massager. The size is good, the power is great, the different attachments offer variety, and the heat option is pretty awesome.
