As you all know, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend ANE last month. At ANE I got to meet the owner and creator of njoy, Greg Delong, an amazingly nice and interesting guy. I wish we’d had more time to talk. Over the years, I have heard oodles of great things about njoy toys and have always wanted to try them but just hadn’t had the chance. Greg was so super awesome that he gifted me an amazing njoy Pure Plug!

Let me start off start off by saying how much I adore this butt plug. It is everything I hoped it would be and more. The shape of the njoy Pure Plug just works very well for my body. It is a somewhat flattened oblong with a tip that slides into my body gently and paves the way for the rest of the plug to enter me. The bulbous part of the butt plug just after the flattened tip slides inside me like it is meant to be there. The handle is great because it keeps the njoy Pure Plug from sliding into my hungry bottom and the long, thin neck provides plenty of room for my muscles to clamp down which keeps it from sliding out.

The heaviness of the plug causes it to feel very solid when it is inside me and I feel its presence much more than some of my lighter-weight silicone plugs. I can wear my njoy Pure Plug for long periods of time in comfort and can have sex with it in without worrying that it will fall out.

Like glass, stainless steel obviously has no give so the njoy Pure Plug feels larger than silicone plugs of the same size. The Large Pure Plug is wonderful for me, but I recommend selecting a smaller size if you have less experience with anal play.

njoy Pure Plugs are hand-finished so there may be slight variations in actual size. Depending on you measure it, my Large Pure Plug is almost 4″ in length with approximately 2 3/4″ insertable. The bulb is 1 1/2″ in diameter. The neck is 1 1/2″ long and approximately 1/2″ in diameter. The Large Pure Plug weighs approximately one pound, so that is a good amount of stainless steel in your bottom.

Like glass, medical-grade stainless is an excellent material for sex toys for several reasons. It is latex and phthalate-free, hypoallergenic, and body-safe. It is also very easy to care for and clean. You can simply wash with soap and water and buff with a soft cloth, which is recommended by njoy for everyday cleaning. You can also sterilize your njoy Pure Plug by boiling it in water o submersing it in a 10% bleach solution. Be sure to sterilize when switching from anal to vaginal play or sharing between partners.

Stainless steel is very flexible when it comes to what kinds of lubricants you can use. You can use any kind of body-safe lube. I find that I need a very small amount of lube with my njoy Pure Plug. The stainless steel is just so smooth and silky a little bit of lube does the trick.

Also like glass, stainless steel is great for sensation play. It tends to be naturally cool, which I love but isn’t always popular. You can heat up your njoy Pure Plug by soaking it in warm water or cool it down by soaking it in ice water. The metal holds the temperature for quite some time before it goes to body temp.

You know how I love my packaging and njoy does a great job in the arena as well. The njoy Pure Plug comes in a beautiful black box with “njoy pure/fun” in silver on the lid. Inside the box, the butt plug sits in a fitted styrofoam form covered in hot pink satin. It is a wonderful way to to store your Pure Plug and is quite discreet as well. Unless someone knows what njoy is, they would have no idea what sort of naughty fun is hiding in the tasteful black box you have on your dresser or bedside table.

Remember way back when I did a review on one of my very favoritest butt plugs, the Crystal Kiss from Crystal Delights? Well, I finally had the opportunity to meet Shelli from Crystal Delights at ANE 2011. Not only is she super sweet, but she has really extended the product line.

There are some new screw-in butt plugs as well as some super cute fox tail plugs. The screw-ins look like they’d be very interesting comfortable. The fox tails are even real. She has also started a line of ceramic dildos and plugs with the Swarovski Crystals. The ceramics are quite pretty and lighter in weight than the glass.

She has some truly beautiful glass dildos, as well as her new gorgeous glass slapper. There is shiny glass and frosted glass, crystals and vintage glass medallions. There is also the beautiful Colors Against Cancer line, the line of matching plugs and dildos dedicated to donating proceeds to charitable cancer causes.

Crystal Delights simply has some of the most beautiful glass toys on the market. It was such a pleasure to see them up close and in person at ANE. I highly recommend getting your hands on some of these fabulous creations.

Another new sex toy I saw at ANE 2011 is from Ume Toys and cleverly enough is called the Ume. I wish I was able to show you better pictures of it.

The Ume, pronounced “you-me” is a safe sex partner toy to be worn during intercourse between a man and a woman. It consists of a soft silicone sleeve worn on the penis with ribs on both the inside and outside to stimulate both partners. There is an internal motor that is meant to stimulate the woman’s g-spot and the man’s penis during intercourse. There is also an external piece meant to stimulate the clitoris. The external piece is interesting because it rotates rather than vibrates. I don’t know how it would feel on my clit but I liked how it felt on my hand.

The Ume is a safe sex toy because the silicone sleeve is basically a giant reusable vibrating condom. The man wears it during intercourse and ejaculates into it. Thus, no semen ends up inside the woman. It is definitely an interesting concept and would make cleanup after play rather easy. The Ume is certainly more eco-friendly than a condom but I wonder how it really feels for both partners. If a man doesn’t enjoy wearing a condom, how would he feel about a silicone sleeve? Of course it does have additional stimuli for him. Would the sleeve rub and chafe inside the woman? Of course, I am a fan of hands free stimulation, but I wonder how well the clitoral piece stays in place.

Ume Toys also makes the Dme, pronounced “do me” for male-male couples. The Dme consist of the same silicone sleeve with the internal motor for added stimulation.

Both the Ume and Dme were in prototype form at ANE so there was no possibility of testing them out just yet.

While the Ume and Dme seem like they might be a bit unwieldy, they also have me curious. I do not know who will be carrying them but I believe they will be out on the market within the next few months, so keep your eyes and ears open.

You all know how I was so super lucky that I got to go to the AVN Adult Novelty Expo (ANE) last week, right? Well, if you missed it you can read about it here. One of the many cool things about ANE is that companies debut new products. One of the exciting soon-to-be-released products I saw that really impressed me is the Ola, from M!nna.

The M!nna Ola is a new high-end rechargeable vibrator. It is silicone, waterproof, and comes in two colors, pink and purple. Other than it’s fun shape and pretty packaging, what makes the Ola really unique is its control panel, which is basically one end of the vibrator. There are no buttons, no dials, no discrete levels of vibration. To work the Ola you simply squeeze the end. The harder you squeeze, the more powerful the vibration. You can also create your own vibrational patterns and the Ola will remember them. Oh. So. Cool.

Not only is this a really great idea, but the Ola is fun to squeeze. I am a really tactile person and its silicone is so soft and silky I just wanted to squeeze, squeeze, squeeze it. I finally had to step away to give someone else a chance.

So the past few days I had the opportunity to attend the very cool Adult Novelty Expo or ANE, put on by AVN. ANE is the top industry business to business convention, where manufacturers display their products and buyers come to shop. For the time ever, Toy Reviewers and Bloggers were invited to attend the show. My new buddy, Papaya Pam from PAPAYA Toys, helped me register. I RSVP’d for the O Awards and the PAPAYA Toys After Party and I was good to go.

ANE was 2 1/2 days, from Thursday 7/7 through Saturday 7/9. It may not sound like much time, but there was a huge amount of cool stuff to fit into those 2 1/2 days. The Expo was held in Pasadena, CA at the beautiful Pasadena Convention Center. Most of the non-locals and even some of the locals were lucky and smart enough to stay right next door at the Sheraton Hotel.

I have been reviewing for toys and sensual products for just about one year now, and during that time I have “met” a great many people online. Some are people who work for retailers and manufacturers, others are reviewers/bloggers I interact with via Twitter. This was a great opportunity to meet some of these people face to face. I also had the chance to meet a whole bunch of new people, including those I have heard of but don’t really “know”.

Thursday morning I attended a seminar called, “What’s in Your Sex Toy/Lube” and learned interesting and useful information that I will be sharing in future reviews and posts. I walked the floor all day Thursday, meeting exciting people like Greg Delong, the owner of Njoy, Rianne, of Rianne S., and Steele Malone with his beautiful glass dildos.

Friday morning brought two more seminars, one on the role of bloggers/reviewers in the adult industry. Being the baby blogger that I am, it was very interesting to see things from the perspective of the more seasoned experts out there like Buck Angel (yes, we met!) and Reid Mihalko, who I finally got to see in action. Friday also brought the opportunity to meet the excellent Garnet Joyce, of MyPleasure. I’ve had an online relationship with her and it was fun to see her speak and meet her in person. I also got to meet the fabulous Shellie from Crystal Delights, who makes the most gorgeous glass toys.

Friday night was the third annual O Awards, an award show that acknowledges outstanding achievements in the industry. It was hosted by Reid Mihalko, who looked ever so scrumptious in his kilt and managed to keep things moving. I was so excited when my new friends, Pam and Chris, from PAPAYA Toys won an O Award for Outstanding Innovation! You may remember my review of PAPAYA Toys’ Candy Stick Vibrator and how much I love the very battery pack that won. Congrats again, Pam and Chris!

The O Awards After Party was hosted by Pam and Chris of PAPAYA Toys, and Reid Mihalko. They did a great job providing a fun and relaxing atmosphere where everyone could celebrate and socialize. The chocolate fountain was yummy and the gift bags were great! I am amazed the three of them were standing the next day after all that hard work they did.

Walking the floor was a great opportunity to meet people and see all the amazing products on display. Some were brand new products being introduced at ANE and some were reappearing. However, most of these toys, if I don’t have them in my possession, I have only seen online. It is one thing to look at the njoy Eleven and read its specs online. It was another experience entirely to hold it in my hand!

As I mentioned, there were some very cool brand new products available at ANE, so keep an eye out for more updates and photos, and possibly a few reviews.

I met so many wonderful people, from manufacturers to retailers to sex educators, there are too many people to mention. However, I do want to give a special shout out to @catcoaches and @minxgrrl, both lovely ladies I follow on Twitter and actually got to meet in the flesh! If only I had taken more photos!

All in all, attending ANE was an incredible experience. The manufacturers and retailers I met make up a wonderful community of open and accepting people. I could not have felt more at home. Everyone there has a strong commitment to the pleasure industry and it was wonderful to be amongst such creative, kink-friendly people.
